TitleOutdoor Party [to celebrate VE Day?]
Date(s)c. 1945
DescriptionBlack and white print (enlarged to poster size) of a large group celebration infront of a block of flats. The group is composed of rows of seated children and some adults and children standing alongside and behind them. The children are wearing party hats and the housing in the background is decorated with bunting, British flags and garlands of flowers. Some members of the crowd are making the 'V' sign for Victory which dates the image from the end of the Second World War. It is likely therefore that the image is of a group celebration in aid of Victory in Europe (VE day) which marked the end of the Second World War and was celebrated on 8 May 1945. The signage on the building in the background of the image shows that it was a London County Council (LCC) block of housing, most likely in Poplar.
