TitleNancy Meckiff's Photographs
Date(s)1961-1976
DescriptionBlack and white photograph of six people (two men and four women) one of whom is Reverend Douglas Wollen. The photograph was originally in a clip frame which contained the following descriptive information on the reverse:

'The Last day of Closing.
Lax of Poplar. Methodist Church 1976.
Woodstock Terrace.
Rev Douglas Wollen; Terry Simco; Sister Eileen Gaunt; Glady Whiffin; Rosie Kelly; Nancy Meckiff'

When the photograph was removed from the poor quality frame the following title was found on the reverse of the image itself: 'Woodstock Terrace: Outside of the Lecture Hall before closing 1977'. The date on the clip frame is correct, whereas the date on the reverse of the image is incorrect, as Poplar Methodist Church moved from its original site and relocated to Trinity Church in 1976.

When the frame was removed another photograph was uncovered within the frame. This is a black and white wedding photograph (on a cardboard mount) of a couple signing a wedding register. On the back of this photograph the following text is written:

'8th April 1961.
To Nancy, with much love from Alan and Janice'.

PhysicalDescriptionThe photographs have been removed from the frame for conservation and preservation purposes, however, as the frame itself provides important contextual information it has been kept with the photographs in the folder and forms part of the producible item.
