| Description | Large volume containing minutes of Trustees' meetings dating from 16 October 1846 - 18 January 1924. The earlier meetings recorded in the volume are concerned with the development of plans to erect a new Wesleyan Methodist Chapel in Poplar. These meetings are generally held at Hale St Chapel (or in the adjoining school rooms) and subsequently, in the new rooms of Hale Street School. The last meeting held by the Trustees in Hale Street School is on 12 September 1848, from 11 November 1848 meetings are held in the vestry of the New Chapel at East India Road. There is a list of the Trustees dated 18 July 1886 on the last page of the volume.
Several loose documents were found within the volume, these have been kept in place. However, a substantial amount of loose material (in two separate sections), was also found at the back of the volume and this has been placed in archival folders for access and preservation reasons. This material consists of: calculations; correspondence (envelopes, letters, notices, memos, telegrams); handwritten minutes; notes; leaflets/brochures; receipts; an insurance policy and other documentation relating to the church. The date span of the loose material found within the volume is: January 1886 - December 1927. |
