| Description | Appoints his wife Elizabeth Shering as his sole executrix, and makes the following bequests:
His house and land at Walthamstow, Essex, and an unspecified annuity, to Elizabeth.
£5 p.a. to his brother Robert Shering, to be paid out of income on 'The Castle', Gracechurch St, London (occupied by William Braxton, scrivener).
Out of rents from 'The Castle, leaves £6 p.a. to the poor of Aldgate, of which £5 to be spent in buying '5 dozen of bread to be distributed to the poor of and belonging to the Lower End of the said parish of Aldgate in East Smithfield precinct.'
Other bequests to his cousins Stephen Bately, Robert Bately, Clement Bately, Thomas Bately, Susanna Francis (daughter of 'old Robert Bately, husbandman'), Anne Lenham, Stephen Shering and John Shering, and friends Richard Breton, Arthur Rowland and William Braxton; relatives Amy Buck (daughter of his late sister Margaret Buck), and the three children of his late sister Mary Cooke; the children of Giles Taylor, smith, living in Bedfordshire; Thomas Shering and his son Thomas Shering junior; John Ruggles, his wife's kinsman; William Shering and John Shering; Samuel Shering and Robert Sherer junior (sons of the testator's brother Robert).
A gold ring to each of his workmen.
