DescriptionSigned by James, Earl of Northampton, Constable of the Tower of London and Lieutenant for the Militia of the Tower Division ('commonly known by the name of the Tower Hamlets'), appointing Thomas Beckford esq a Major in the regiment of foot soldiers in the Militia for the Tower Division 'whereof Sir Thomas Bide is Colonel', and making him Captain of a company of foot soldiers in the same regiment.
