AdminHistoryFollowing the creation of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets in 1965, the three Library services of the predecessor Metropolitan Boroughs were merged. The Tower Hamlets Music Library Service was based at the Music Library and Recital Hall at Mayfield House on Cambridge Heath Road (which had previously housed the Gramophone Record Library of the Metropolitan Borough of Bethnal Green). Records were also issued from the Central Library at Bancroft Road, Poplar Library, Whitechapel Library and Limehouse Library, and requests for LPs could be submitted at any of the smaller branch libraries.
