| AdminHistory | Membership of the the Tower Hamlets Road Safety Advisory Committee was drawn from a variety of bodies (e.g. the three major political parties, the Metropolitan Police, the British Medical Association, the Inner London Education Authority, the Licensed Taxi Drivers Association, Tower Hamlets Trades Council, Queen Mary College, the Road Haulage Association, the Tower Hamlets Society, etc.), although vacancies were not always filled.
The Committee considered all aspects of road safety and ways to improve it, making recommendations where necessary. Of particular note is that the papers contain detailed statistics on road accidents throughout the Borough and some reports on individual incidents; there is also information on accident black spots, parking problems, motorcycle training courses, road safety films shown in schools, pedestrian and pelican crossings, and other improvements designed to increase safety. |
