DescriptionDay Books of baptisms, from which the official baptismal registers were later written up, usually give the following information: date of baptism, name and age (or date of birth) of the child, names of the parents, and father's occupation. Street or alley of residence is also given, the following abbreviations being commonly used:

A number of entries relate to baptisms of adults, especially black North American and Caribbean people, where place of origin is usually given. For example L/SGE/B/1/11 includes:
-Barbados (31 December 1786; 7 January 1787; 4 October 1789)
-Jamaica (10 & 13 December 1786; 29 April, 15 July & 9 December 1787; 6 July 1788)
-Grenada (10 December 1786; 23 January 1788)
-South Carolina (4 March & 29 May 1787; 25 April, 28 May, 18 July & 21 December 1788)
-Georgia (5 Sepember 1787, 6 December 1789)
-Virginia (4 January 1788)
-Maryland (17 February 1790)
-Bermuda (12 August 1787)
