| Description | Medium volume entitled 'Bills Payable' on one cover and 'Bills Receivable' on the other. Contains records of bills payable and receivable relating to the shipment of timber dating from July 1880 - March 1897.
Records within the bills payable section date from September 1880 - 18 March 1897. The records are contained within a table format, with a number of entries listed for every two pages, arranged by sequential reference number. Each record in the bills payable section contains information about the drawer, brokers and ships, the amount and whether or not this has been paid. Records within the bills receivable section date from 16 July 1880 - 21 December 1896. They are in a similar table format to the bills payable but do not have reference numbers and differ as to column headings, information captured (e.g. this section does not include shipping details etc). J. J. and S. W. Chalk are frequently listed in this section within the column entitled 'by whom drawn'.
About a third of the volume (between the bills payable and bills receivable sections) has not been used. |
