TitleHoliday Photograph Album, 1933-1938
Date(s)1933-1986
DescriptionPhotograph album belonging to someone with the surname 'Meckiff', which has the following handwritten text on its front cover: 'This album dates from 1933 to 1938. The leaders were Sister Hilda Rudkin and Nursing Sister Constance Wesly'. [The handwriting is difficult to decipher and therefore the surnames given here are based on a best guess rather than verified information].

The album contains black and white photographs of women on holiday/outings, beginning with a trip to Somerset in 1933 and ending with a trip to the Isle of Wight in 1938. Titles and dates are provided for the various excursions and the photographs also have captions underneath.

There are some notes attached to the inside of the album, these are dated 1986 and provide additional context to the images. They include information about the two Sisters mentioned on the cover, Sister Hilda and Sister Constance. According to the notes Sister Hilda was 'the youngest Deaconness to come to Lax of Poplar' and Sister Constance was a Deaconness who 'worked very hard looking after the sick people of Poplar for many years'.
Extent1 volume
PhysicalDescriptionFragile. The condition of the volume's exterior is poor, the spine has become detached from the contents and was for some time held together by masking tape which caused additional damage. The photographs are in relatively good condition apart from some discolouration.
