| Description | Comprises list of applicants to the Upper and Lower Buildings (giving name, age, date of the application, 'quality' or rank, detail of years of service with East India Company and number of voyages made, name of person recommending applicant for admission, and 'remarks' including notes of addresses, dates of admission or death, etc); also register of admissions to each house, showing the successive inhabitants of each almshouse (38 'Lower Buildings' and 18 'Upper Buildings'). Earliest date of admission recorded is for Margaret Sloss at 7, Lower Buildings, admitted in 1791 and died 1831. Includes some notes up to 1855. Notes on characters and disabilities, etc., of the inmates sometimes included (e.g. 5 Sep. 1827, John Graves: 'Unmarried. Lost a leg in mutiny on board the Orwell. Strongly recommended by Mr Higginson').
