| AdminHistory | Alfred Joseph William Ince was born in Malta on 15 April 1937, son of Georgina Ince (born Georgina Borda in Malta on 23 March 1904) and an unknown father. Alfred emigrated to the United Kingdom in 1953 under the Malta Government Passage Assistance Scheme, and ended up living in Stepney. He lived alone and was not in close contact with his family (although he did correspond with a sister in Australia), but he became good friends with Mrs Maureen Robins a neighbour in Clovelly Way. Maureen helped to look after Alfred at the end of his life. Alfred died in the Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel on 4 September 1995; Maureen organised his funeral. |
| CustodialHistory | The papers passed to Maureen Robins after Alfred died in 1995. Maureen herself died in 2024, and these documents (together with some of Maureen's own papers) were then inherited by the depositor, who is the partner of Maureen's brother Terence Selby. |
