The volume contains weekly salary records, with the employees grouped together in sections according to their job roles (e.g office staff; drivers; labourers, with separate entries for individuals such as the cleaner and R. S. C.) and 1 week's worth of records per page. The records are in table format and record the initial/s and surname of the employee; gross and net amounts due; deductions (National Insurance and Income Tax); employer's National Insurance. Every second page includes an additional column for recording a summary of salary and Income Tax as part of the official return, this section has either been left blank or appears to be missing, most likely detached from the page in question for a submission.
Towards the rear of the volume there are additional records, these are tables containing summaries (re drivers' wages and labourers' wages). There is also a loose document, a page of calculations, at the beginning of the volume. |
