At the front: loose documents from the Charity Commission (photocopies, annotated drafts and cover letters) relating to the scheme for the charities Stepney Relief Society Fund (Ratcliff Branch) and the Stepney Relief Society Fund (Mile End Old Town Branch), 1967-1969.
Contains an annotated Charity Commission order and schedule for the charity 'Stepney Relief Society' dated 26 August 1932. This is proceeded by minutes of meetings of the Trustees for the administration of the Charity of the Stepney Relief Society, also referred to in the page header of the first meeting minutes as Mile End Old Town Stepney Relief Society Charity and as meetings of the Trustees of the Mile End Old Town Charities, Stepney Relief Branch in minutes dating from 9 July 1935 onwards. Minutes in the volume are handwritten (apart from the last set which are typed), they date from 9 December 1932 to 25 February 1943 and sometimes include basic details about applicants i.e. the names, addresses and ages of these pensioners. A loose fragment of paper with some text on it was found (amongst the pages recording minutes from the 20 December 1941 meeting) and this has been retained. |
