Recites Lease and Release of 9-10 Jul. 1819 by which property in Morgan St., Umberston St [spelt Humberstone St. in this and subsequent documents in this collection] and Cross St., all in St. George-in-the-East, was conveyed by Matthew Wilks to John Whitling and Ralph Needham, in trust for Ann Jones.
Also recites marriage settlement of 22 Apr. 1820, on the marriage of Mary Ann Humberstone Jones, only child of the said Ann Jones, to William Williams. There were 4 children of this marriage: Arthur Stephen Jones Williams (died unmarried, 29 Jul. 1862), William Williams [i.e. party no.3, above], Leonora Eliza Mary Anne Vaughan [i.e. party no.2, above, now the widow of Philip Vaughan], and Anne Arthur Scott (died Jul. 1863, wife of Matthias J. Scott; she left 2 children, Ida Scott and Rosa Scott). Mary Ann Humberstone Williams died 10 Dec. 1865, and following a legal ... judgement the property was directed to be divided between her surviving heirs as follows: one half to William Williams, one quarter to Leonora Eliza Mary Anne Vaughan, and one eighth each to Ida Scott and Rosa Scott (both under 21 years of age).
The deed of partition sets out this property division as follows:
(a) nos. 6,7,9,12,13 and 20 Morgan St., nos.1,2,3,4 and 6 Cross St, no.12 Umberston St., the Globe and Friends public house on the corner of Morgan St. and Cross St., and the ground between 9 and 12 Morgan St (formerly the site of nos. 10 and 11 Morgan St), to 3.
(b) nos. 3,4,5 and 8 Morgan St., and nos.21 and 22 Umberston St., to 2.
(c) nos. 14,15 and 16 Morgan St., to Ida Scott.
(d) nos. 17, 18 and 19 Morgan St., to Rosa Scott.
