TitleMcCarthy Sketchbook
Date(s)1991
DescriptionA richly decorated sketchbook filled with rough drawings and written notes. The book is bound with board and is approximately twenty two centimetres tall by fifteen wide. The front and back covers have a purple border surrounding an inner rectangle depicting floral patterns. The sketches inside are very rough, with the majority of the book being filled with notes in pencil. There are no page numbers.

This book is interesting because although it has few sketches it also contains a copious amount of rough notes. Among them are notes of what McCarthy needed for etching, printing and preparing plates, as well as extensive written lists of the various plants and trees growing in his garden, including where he got them from and the amount he paid for them.

Number of Sketches: 12

Inside there are a few missing pages but aside from that there appear to be no pressing conservation issues with this item.
