TitleMcCarthy Sketchbook
Date(s)1972
DescriptionA black sketchbook. The book is bound with board and buckram and is approximately twenty three centimetres tall by eighteen centimetres wide. The sketchbook contains numerous sketches of male nudes, although there are also a few religious and architectural drawings alongside them. There are no page numbers.

As usual, the vast majority of the sketches within the book are of male nudes. However, there are a few unusual drawings in this sketchbook. A third of the way through there are two sketches of Peter Pan, one normal, the other a caricature. Near the end one of the pages is taken up by a prayer to God. Unusually, there is also an image of a reclining woman a few pages later.

Number of Sketches: 66
Extent1 item
PhysicalDescriptionCondition: The sketchbook is in relatively good condition. The spine is mostly intact, although there is a circular mark on the front cover which may indicate something was placed on it at some point. There are only two instances of pages having been torn out, and none of the remainder are loose.
