| Title | McCarthy Sketchbook |
| Date(s) | 1965-1966 |
| Description | A large black sketchbook.. The book is bound with board and buckram and is approximately twenty three centimetres tall by eighteen wide. As with P/MCC/1/10, most of the drawings within consist of pictures of the male form, though unlike P/MCC/1/10 a large number of said sketches are the results of McCarthy experimenting with various poses. In addition, a handwritten note within the sketchbook indicates that McCarthy was also interested in exploring the movement and shifting of weight as depicted in artwork. Photographs are pasted at the front. There are no page numbers.
Number of Sketches: 55 |
| Extent | 1 item |
| PhysicalDescription | Condition: As with P/MCC/1/10, the condition of this sketchbook is poor. The black dye on the front cover is slowly flaking off, and the spine is slowly peeling away at the bottom. The paste holding the photographs to the paper on the first few pages has worn out, meaning the photographs themselves are now loose. There are numerous loose pages and many have been torn out entirely. Overall this book should be handled with extreme care. |
