The Good Neighbourhood Scheme offered a range of services for vulnerable people and/or isolated people living in the community. Such a scheme targeted individuals such as elderly, people with disabilities, single mothers with young children, Bengali families experiencing racial harassment and people who are sick, either temporary or long-term.
Good Neighbourhood Schemes operated alongside the home-help and Meals-on-Wheels services but also provided a service for people that were not receiving other care. It services included a wide range of activities such as accompanying people to the shops, hospitals and other places of need or interest, escorting people on to Day Centre buses and meeting with them when they return, spending time talking to people and many others. |
