They are arranged alphabetically by street address or by council estate or property if owned by the Greater London Council or London Borough of Tower Hamlets. Signed by Valuation Officer, 20 December 1972 to be in place for the year 1973.
Note that some smaller streets are listed under wider areas, for example, under Minories several streets are listed.
Individual entries give: assessment number; analysis code; address and description: e.g. 'shop and premises'; gross value; rateable value; reference to Direction sheet series (see L/THL/C/2/12) page, and direction entry number if valuation changed. The Direction sheets record any changes to property values after 1973.
There are two sequences of the same series of information: L/THL/C/2/11/1-10 and L/THL/C/2/11-23. The first is the original set and the second is a contemporary copy, both with manuscript additions. There is variation between the two sets, with additional amendments which do not appear in the other. It is advised to use the first set and if the property does not appear, use the second. |
