| AdminHistory | Tower Hamlets Training Forum was a voluntary organisation established in 1977 as part of an attempt to develop a co-ordinated strategy for Tower Hamlets. It primarily targeted the Clothing Industry and provided vocational training via Clothing Workshops in order to upskill workers. In September 1980, a full programme of skills and language training courses were introduced for workers in the Clothing Industry. Tower Hamlets Training Forum's membership comprised of variety of organisations including the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Tower Hamlets Trade Council, the City of London Polytechnic and Toynbee Hall.
Mrs Fakhruddin was a founding member of Bengali Mahila Samity. Her husband Ahmed Fakhruddin was an important community activist for the Bengali Community in the 1970s and 1980s and was involved in a number of organisations including Tower Hamlets Training Forum and Multicultural Bengali Association. |
