| Description | East End News shareholders meeting minutes and agenda, and correspondence.
The Spitalfields Project was a shareholder and corporate member of the East End News, which launched as a weekly paper for Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Newham in March 1981. It was owned and run by its readers, with funds drawn from community groups, trade unions and individuals. A main reason given by those who established the paper was due to the 'constant racist bias and distortion of the East London Advertiser..[we] launched the paper with a firm and publically-stated commitment against racialism and for equal opportunities for all people'. |
