| Description | Property Book: contains alphabetical list of the School's founders, i.e. imitial subscribers in 1710; details of the property belonging to the Charity, lists of donations recieved, 1710-1852, and of legacies, with some details of the whereabouts of relevant wills; and list of records concerning the Charity and the school.
The property belonging to the Charity is described (in 1851) as:
a) freehold land on the west side of White Horse Street, Ratcliff, on which the school (description of rooms given) was built in 1720.
b) freehold land on the west side of Fore Street ('nearly opposite the Bell Inn'), Edmonton, bequeathed to the Charity by Thomas Wakelin esq. in 1719, at which time Mr Buroughs was the occupant; the site was now occupied by five houses - nos. 1 and 2 let to Mr Corker, staioner (this being the Edmonton Post Office), no. 3 let to Mr Wilson, hatter, no. 4 to Mr Province, tailor, and no. 5 to Mr Assals, confectioner; also, a shed and garden at the rear of nos. 4 and 5, let to Mr Simons, basket maker.
c) funded property consisting principally of £3,000 in consolidated 3% annuities. |
