Some pages have headings/titles which make it possible to establish this material as draft text and notes for Reverend Lax's second novel, 'Let's Go to Poplar', first published in 1929. The notes are generally undated, however, there is an annotated press cutting from The Methodist Recorder amongst the material which is dated 8 December 1927. If the chapter titles found amongst this draft material are compared to those in the published novel, it is evident that they were subsequently re-numbered. Therefore it is likely that these notes form part of an earlier, rather than a later or final, draft of the novel. |
