Hec est finalis concordia facta in curia domini Regis apud Westmonasterium a die sancti Hillarij in quindecim dies anno regnorum Ricardi Regis Anglie et Francie septimo coram Roberto Bealknapp Willelmo de Skipwyth Rogero de Fulthorp Johanne Holt et Willelmo de Burgh justiciariis et aliis domini Regis fidelibus tunc ibi presentibus, inter Johannem Cornewaleys querentem et Thomam Cornewaleys et Johanam uxorem eius deforciantes de quatuor acris prati cum pertinentiis in Olde Forthe in parochia de Stebenhethe unde placitum convencionis summonitum fuit inter eos in eadem curia, scilicet quod predicti Thomas et Johana recognoverunt predictum pratum cum pertinentiis esse jus ipsius Johannis et illud ei reddiderunt in eadem curia, habendum et tenendum eidem Johanni et heredibus suis de capitis dominis feodi illius pro servicia que ad predictum pratum pertinent imperpetuum. Et preterea iidem Thomas et Johana concesserunt pro se et heredibus ipsius Johane quod ipsi warantizabunt predicto Johanni et heredibus suis predictum pratum cum pertinentiis contra omnes homines imperpetuum et pro hac recognicione reddicione warantia fine et concordia idem Johannes dedit predictis Thome et Johane viginti marcas argenti.
This is the final agreement made in the court of the lord King at Westminster, fifteen days after Saint Hilary's day in the seventh year of the reign of Richard king of England and France, before Robert Bealknapp, William of Skipwith, Roger of Fulthorp, John Holt and William de Burgh, justices and other faithful subjects of the king then present there, between John Cornwallis, querent, and Thomas Cornwallis and his wife Joan, deforciants, concerning four acres of meadow with appurtenances in Old Ford in the parish of Stepney, concerning which a plea of covenant had been summoned between them in the same court: namely, that the said Thomas and Joan have recognized the said meadow with appurtenances to be by right the property of the same John, and have surrendered it to him in the same court, to have and to hold to the same John and his heirs for ever from the head landlords of that fee, subject to services which belong to the same meadow. And meanwhile the same Thomas and Joan have granted, on behalf of themselves and the heirs of Joan herself, that they will warrant to the said John and his heirs the aforesaid meadow with appurtenances against all men for ever, and for this acknowledgment, surrender, warrant, fine and agreement the same John has given to the aforesaid Thomas and Joan twenty marks of silver. |
