| Description | A maroon sketchbook. The book is bound with board and leather and is approximately twenty five centimetres tall by twenty wide. Unlike P/MCC/1/1 and P/MCC/1/2 there are no page numbers. Also unlike the preceding two there are very few religious sketches, having been mostly replaced by portraits and a few nudes. There are few paintings.
Most of the sketches in the book are simple, but a few are slightly more unusual. Near the beginning is a sketch of a man on horseback which draws clear inspiration from the works of Picasso. Several sketches appear to be related to Clean Air campaigns and have a distinctly poster-esque structure. One sketch of a woman sitting on a chair has two pressed leaves pasted over it, and another painting near the end was made by pasting theatre tickets over a page and then painting over them.
As usual there are purple bookmarks denoting McCarthy's models. This time the individuals include Dennis Rampling, Mrs. McCarthy, Owen McCarthy, Norah Rampling and Alec Ayres. Overall P/MCC/1/3 shows a lot of experimental work and is a large departure from McCarthy's previous sketchbooks.
