August 2nd Realises that he has left his passport and tickets at home. . When he gets his coat which has his papers in he finds that ink from an ink bottle has spilled out over his papers, "These are cautions to Travellers". Goes on board S.S. "Bitterne" lying just below Wapping Old Stairs.
August 4th Alongside Wharf at Sandthor Hafen. Makes a reference to a previous visit here in 1874. Goes to Hawburgh Hof Hotel and then walks around town.
August 5th Takes train to Altôua and then to Kiel. Arrives there and and goes on board the mail steamer "Augusta Victoria" and journeys down the sound. Sees the Islands of Laugeland, Lohais and Fishmen which he describes as belonging to Iceland. Sights Korsør and lands there. Starts journey to Copenhagen and arrives there in the late evening.
ugust 6th Visits sights around City, including Museum of Northern Antiquity.
August 8th Boards a steamer bound for Malmø in Sweden. Arrives there at 1.30pm. Starts train journey to Stockholm.
August 9th Arrives in Stockholm. Visits Ethnological Museum in Dettrineu Garde.
August 10th Goes to Royal Palace, Swedenborg's house, National Museum and Royal Library.
August 11th Boards "S.S. Finland".
August 12th Sights Islands off the coast of Finland. Sights Alaud Isles. Lands in town of Abo. Visits Cathedral of St. Henriks Domkyrkau. Goes back on board ship.
August 13th Sights Sweaborg, "the Gibraltor of the North". Visits Hellings-Fors. Goes back on board ship.
August 14th Enters channel leading to Viborg. Goes ashore in Viborg.
August 15th Passes the yacht of Emperor Nicholas. Enters the Neva river. Makes fast at Quay at St. Petersburg and goes ashore. Visits; the Hermitage, St. Issac's Cathedral and Kazan Cathedral.
August 16th Visits Academy of Arts and Academy of Science where he describes a mammoth found in the ice in 1790. Goes past the Summer Palace. Visits Great Church of St. Peter and St. Paul. Visits first church to be built in St. Petersburg. Goes to house of Peter the Great.
August 17th Visits Preobajeuske Church, Church of Alexander Nevski and Museum of Carriages. Boards train to Moscow.
August 18th Arrives in Moscow and visits the Kremlin.
August 19th Goes inside the Kremlin. Visits; Cathedral of St. Michael, Church of St. Basil, Palace built by Emperor Nicholas and a ancient palace of the early Tsars. Goes back on board train to Moscow.
August 20th Arrives at Nijuie Novgorod and visits the "world renowned" fair and the Cathedral of the Transfiguration. Takes train to Moscow.
August 21st Arrives in Moscow.
August 22nd Takes train which is going via Breslau to Berlin.
August 23rd Train stops at Brest and Lukow. Arrives at Warsaw.
August 24th Visits Laseuka Palace, Botanical Gardens and Alexandrovski Bridge. Boards train for Berlin.
August 25th Arrives at Breslau. Arrives at Frederich- Strass Bahuhoff railway station, Berlin.
August 26th Visits Museum of Ancient and Modern Arms and the National Museum.
August 27th Boards train to Hanover which stops at Frankfurt. Arrives in Hanover.
