DescriptionDay to day life onboard a passenger carrying sailing ship. Entries include details of a passenger falling overboard and of amateur theatrical productions on board ship. Includes illustrations by Revd. Greatorex.

At end of book is a handwritten 1872 Errors Of Chronometers by Lunars compiled by Dan Greatorex. Also includes (loose) miscellaneous invitations and a pack of wild cotton from Australia.

August 24th Sends luggage down to the "St. Vincent" at Wapping Basin.
August 26th Goes on board the "St. Vincent".
August 27th Describes a near miss between the "Collingwood and the "St. Vincent".
August 28th Sights Portland Bill, Dartmouth.
August 30th Sights the Bolt tail, Edginton Lighthouse.
September 5th List of passengers. Views the "W.L.J" of Port Talbot out of the Port of Swansea bound to Shanghai from Liverpool.
September 7th Spots the "Devonice" from Liverpool.
September 14th Sees the "Gateway" from Poole bound for Monte Video.
October 30th Sees St. Paul and Amsterdam Island.
November 10th Climbs up the rigging of the "St. Vincent" and sees his for the first time Australia. The part he first sights is High Island and then Nauguror Island.
November 11th At anchor off Roadstead opposite the Synal station. Visits Adelaide. Describes an accident involving the "City of Adelaide" and the "South Australian" in which people in a boat visiting these ships were thrown overboard by a squall. One woman died.
November 12th Visits and describes the City of Adelaide.
November 19th On board "S.S. Aldridge".
November 21st Visits and describes Melbourne.
