The log book record date differes from the 'Wings for Victory Week', as there were not sufficient aircraft and operational flights during the period of the Campaign to meet requirements. In these case, the mounts subscribed by a Local Committee as being the necessary to replace such aircraft which may have been lost during hostilities.
The 'Wings for Victory' campaign was organised by the National Savings Committee with the object of securing the investment of additional funds in National Savings security to assist the war effort. The Bethnal Green Savings Committee was invited to fix a targt for the capaign and it fixed the a figure of £500,000 for the Borough of Bethnal Green. £503, 189 was the figure that was achieved. |
