TitleAdmission Register, 1953-1964
Date(s)1953-1964
DescriptionLondon County Council Admission Register and related material for an un-named school, apparently in the Wood Close area. Volume contains an alphabetic index at the front followed by admissions dating from September 1953 - June 1964, often including numerous admissions on one day (for instance on 7 September 1953).

The entries are arranged by chronological admission number which corresponds with a chronological date of admission/re-admission. The range of information recorded within includes: date of admission/re-admission; surname; christian names, sex; address of parents; date of birth; birth certificate seen; immunised against diphtheria; name of parent/guardian; last school attended; records - date received on, where sent to, date of despatch; last attendance at school; nature of employment or school to which transferred or reason for leaving; exemption claimed from religious instruction; whether a boarder.

The volume also contains a range of loose documentation, such as, pupil transfer forms; notes on pupils and correspondence. The majority of this loose documentation is on headed paper belonging to St Gregory the Great R.C. Secondary School (Wood Close, St Matthews Row, London E.2). This information would appear to link the register to a school at Wood Close, however, it has not been possible to establish exactly which school's records are entered in the register as St Gregory's did not open until 1959 and its immediate predecessor, St Anne's Secondary School, opened in 1955. Furthermore, Wood Close School, predecessor to both St Anne's Secondary School and St Gregory the Great's Secondary School, apparently closed in 1953.
