| AdminHistory | The school was opened in 1819 by the Rector of Bethnal Green with aid from the Bishop of London and the Society for the Education of the Poor of Bethnal Green in the principles of the Established Church (formed in 1818). It began in temporary buildings in Wilmot Square until the National Society built a school building on the north west corner of the churchyard. The weekday roll in 1820 was 304 boys and 106 girls. By 1871 this had risen to 294 boys and 286 girls and infants. The school closed after the Rector refused use to the School Board for London, and was in disepair by 1879. The buildings were subsequently used by the Bethnal Green Parochial Charity Schools. |
