AdminHistoryThe Stepney Relief in Need Charity was set up by a Charity Commissioners' Order of 25 July 1977 which amalgamated a number of smaller charities that held the same aims.

Stepney Relief in Need Charity makes grants to individuals who are resident within the former Metropolitan Borough of Stepney. The applicants are required to complete an application form and grants can be considered for household goods such as fridge/freezers, washing machines, beds, bed linen etc. Grants can also be made towards individuals who require a holiday and those who need to travel to and from hospital for appointments and are also considered for items such as TVs. Grants cannot be considered, however, for rent arrears, council tax arrears, debts, or computers/laptops (except in exceptional circumstances).

In 2019, the Trustees were made up of three Nominated Trustees by the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and five co-opted Trustees, their scope in making grants is wide-ranging, meeting four times a year.
