| AdminHistory | Stepney Camera Club was formed in 1959 at which time it was known as the Jubilee Camera Club and was based at Smithy Street Men's Institute, Stepney, probably taking its name from nearby Jubilee Street.In 1963 the name was changed to Stepney Camera Club. The club's activities included lectures, various competitions between members and "battles" with other clubs. The club continued to be based at the Smithy Street site (latterly part of the Tower Hamlets Institute of Adult Education). In the 1980s it changed its name to the Tower Hamlets Photographic Society but ceased operating in about 1994. |
