AdminHistoryThe first meeting of the sub-committee took place on 4th April 1946 and it met for the last time on 1st December 1948, by which time its aim of funding and arranging for a War Memorial to commemorate the ten members of the staff of Bethnal Green Council who lost their lives in the 1939-1945 war had been achieved.
The memorial, an angled oak seat with a plaque above, placed in the vestibule of the main entrance to Bethnal Green Town Hall, was unveiled on 11th November 1948.
The ten men commemorated are:
