| CustodialHistory | The bulk of these records were deposited by the National Museum of Labour History in 1992 (Accession no. TH/8488), 1995 (Accession no. TH/8640) and 2002 (Accession no. TH/9042). The circumstances of their original deposit in the National Museum of Labour History is not known but it probably occurred when the Museum was based locally at Limehouse Town Hall. These records included those of Bethnal Green Co-operative Party, Bethnal Green Labour Party, Poplar Labour Party, Stepney Labour Party and Tower Hamlets Labour Party.
The remainder of the records come from a variety of sources and were received into the Archives at different times: the records of the Bethnal Green Borough Labour Group of the Bethnal Green Trades Council and Central Labour Party (Accession no. TH/8214) were purchased in 1987; the records of the Bow and Poplar Labour Party (Accession no. TH/8918) deposited in 2000; the records of the Limehouse Ward Labour Party (Accession nos. TH/8911 and TH/8926) were deposited in 2000; the records of the Shadwell Ward Labour Party (Accession no. TH/8562) were deposited in 1993); and the records of the Tower Hamlets Co-operative Party (Accession no. TH/8918) were deposited in 2000. Additional records of the Tower Hamlets Labour Party were deposited in 1983 (Accession no. TH/8273) and 1991 (Accession no. TH/8466). |
