| AdminHistory | Robert Whitfield was the second son of John Whitfield, gentleman of Canterbury, Kent and his wife Rebecca, a daughter and co-heiress of Robert Jaques. John was buried at St. Mary Magdalen, Canterbury and is commemorated by the Whitfield Monument. Robert married Anne Palmer and lived at Chartham deanery. He held property in Wapping and also a parsonage at Dorney, Buckinghamshire. His successor, also Robert, lived at Kingsgate, Isle of Thanet, Kent. He left by will (will made 24 October 1767, proved 13 November 1767, The National Archives, reference: PROB 11/934/32) his estate including Dorney to Sarah Mocbet[?], spinster who was living with him and cousin John Whitfield of Canterbury.
