AdminHistoryLilian 'Lily' Mary Ricks was born in Poplar in 1898 to Arthur William Ricks and Louise Ricks, formerly Jones. The family lived at 100 Mellish Street in Millwall.

In c.1918 Lily was listed on army documents as the next of kin to Michael Fitisoff, a carpenter from Russia and soldier in the Australian Imperial Force who served in France during the First World War. On the attestation papers her address was given as 16 St Mary's Street, Millwall.

In 1925 she married Mark Kurtz, a bus driver with the London Passenger Transport Board, in Poplar. They lived at 19 Tredegar Square, Stepney. Lily died in 1984 in Oxford.
