| Description | The following consists of unofficial manuscript material collected by Poplar Library prior to 1965, when the collection was transferred to Tower Hamlets Central Library. Only the provenance of P/PLC/1-5, five small collections or single documents acquired either by purchase or donation, is recorded. The origins of P/PLC/6 are unknown, although some of the documents have the appearance of being purchased from book and manuscript dealers.
Poplar Library also took in records from the parish vestries of All Saints Poplar (L/ASP), and St Mary, Stratford Bow (L/SMS), which have been catalogued separately.
It also accepted records transferred by the British Records Association for the area within Poplar Metropolitan Borough, and these have been added to records for Stepney from the same sources, sent to Mile End Library by the BRA: Messrs Richard Ellis & son, Chartered Surveyors (B/ELL, BRA 924), Guildhall Library (P/GLC, BRA 854), A W Turner, per Messrs Perrys, 56 Preston St, Brighton (P/MIS/394, BRA 833), Gustavus Thompson, solicitors (P/GUT, BRA 874), the Senior Official Receiver, Carey St, London WC2 (C/OFR, BRA 898), Russell Sons and Bass, solicitors (P/RSB, BRA 823), Hackney Borough Library (BRA 984), Messrs Pettiver & Pearkes (P/PEP, BRA 985), Waltons & Co (P/WAL, BRA 1100), Messrs Crossman, Block & Co (B/MCP, BRA 927), Messrs Batchelor, Fry, Coulson & Burder (P/BFC, BRA 1291), and Parker, Garrett & Co (P/PAG, BRA 1235).
