AdminHistoryHenry Heath and Son was a small family business of dairymen based at 1 and 3 Barchester Street, Poplar. Henry Heath (d. 1925) had established the business at these premises by 1911; the site had been occupied in 1902 by a cowkeeper, Percival William Alexander, suggesting commercial continuity. One of Henry's sons from his second marriage was Ewart Gladstone Heath (1904-1986), the donor's father. As well as continuing the dairying business, Ewart served in the London Auxiliary Fire Service in the Second World War, and he features in some of the photographs.

Ewart Gladstone Heath married Elizabeth West in 1926, and the couple had two sons: Gordon Heath (b. 1927), the donor of this collection, and his brother Ewart.
CustodialHistoryEvidently retained as family papers, Gordon Heath donated the collection in June 2002.
