AdminHistorySydney Alfred Goldsworthy (1894-1975) was born in Bethnal Green, the fourth child of a pawnbroker's foreman, Henry Goldsworthy and his wife Amelia Frances Goldsworthy nee Mason. The Goldsworthy family were resident in Bethnal Green between 1891 and 1894 at least, but they had moved further east by the time of the 1901 census, and by 1911 they were resident at 32 Leytonstone Road, Stratford. Sydney joined the Royal Air Force in 1917 during the First World War. Photographs in this collection indicate he was still in France in 1919 after the war ended. On his return Sydney married Florence Baker in 1920, and the couple had a daughter, Irene.
