AdminHistoryAlbert Cawthorne, born in Liverpool in 1870, joined the Library service in East London in 1897 at Whitechapel Library. In 1902 he became Chief Librarian of Stepney, and he remained as Stepney Borough Librarian until his retirement in 1936. His brother John Edwin Cawthorne was the first full time librarian at Queen Mary University London.
