TitleTown Planning Files
Date(s)1930s-1960s
DescriptionFormer LCC/GLC Town Planning Files (TD/DC Tower Hamlets Files)
Extent296 files
CategoryCorrespondence
FormatManuscript
CustodialHistoryThese files were deposited by Dickie Fenn, of the Council's transport service. They were removed from council storage in King David's Lane (former police section house), Shadwell. He recalls moving them there from the former Poplar Town Hall in Bow Road, some years ago.

The files were evidently transferred to Tower Hamlets by the Greater London Council, possible in the late 1960s, having been microfilmed. The packets do not appear to have been open since transferral.

The files do not generally contain plans and the whereabouts of the associated plans packets/rolls is unknown. This deposit does include, however, some duplicate plans [see - L/THL/D/1/2]. For some of these there is no file suggesting that this sequence of files should not be regarded as complete in terms of LCC/GLC planning files relating to Tower Hamlets in the period concerned.
