Thomas Ennor was a builder of some note in the Victorian East End. He was born in 1815 in St. Agnes near Truro in Cornwall as was his wife Jane. By 1855 he was established as a carpenter at 38 Hardinge Street near Commercial Road, though by 1857 he is described in the trade directory of that year as "builder and contractor". By 1859 while retaining the Hardinge Street premises he had expanded into premises south of the River at Vauxhall Gardens and to 2, Marine Place, Commercial Road. The 1861 census shows him residing at 2, Marine Place with his wife Jane. By 1865 they were residing at 4, St. Agness Terrace, Victoria Park in a development he had built himself and named after his birth place. By 1870 his business operations were conducted from 1, Devonshire Place, later 242, Commercial Road. He died in 1875.
