Release from Mr James Thomas Coker to Messers Swinton and Grant concerning property in Bromley Street Legal document which relates to an inheritance by James Thomas Coker from his grandfather, William Coker, Gentleman, of Bromley Street, Commercial Road East, Parish of Ratcliffe, as outlined in the latter's last Will and Testament dated 16 January 1852. According to the release document William Coker died on approximately 4 February 1852. In his will Mr. Coker bequeathed a sum of money, annuities upon trusts, for the benefit of this grandsons and granddaughters, to be held by his friends, Captain James Swinton of Lower Shadwell and the printer, Daniel Grant of Newgate Street in the City of London. It is also noted that Mr William Coker's estate and interest in the property at 15 Bromley Street was to be held by the executors in benefit for James Thomas Coker. The second page of the document also makes reference to leasehold houses in Nos 13, 14 & 16 Bromley Street, properties belonging to William Coker which he bequeathed to his grandsons. The document states that James Thomas Coker is a Printers Assistant of 44 Nicolles Street, St Peters Road, Mile End. As he has now reached 23 years of age the document outlines that James Coker has applied to have the executors, James Swinton and Daniel Grant, 'sell and convert into money the residue of the said sum [£703 and 5 shillings] per centum annuities and to pay him the proceeds of such sale'. The document confirms their actions and releases them from their legal duties to James Thomas Coker as these have now been fulfilled. Includes a receipt written on the back of this page of the document to confirm that James Thomas Coker had received the sum of £869, 5 shillings and 6 pence paid by James Swinton and Daniel Grant. 7 January 1865
