Pre-War and Wartime Reminscences, Photographs and Ephemera 1. a) Three-page memoir by Gordon Heath (b. 1927) covering pre-war Poplar, wartime evacuation, notes on the family business and its closure during the war. This document is a letter written to Tower Hamlets Local History Library and Archives. b) Further letter (photocopy) from Mr Heath to Tower Hamlets Local History Library and Archives dated 8 June 2006. Contains additional information on the Heath family business, wartime Poplar, etc. Includes blank headed paper (photocopy) of the Berger Hall Central Church and Medical Mission at Empson Street in Bromley-by-Bow, which Henry Heath was involved with, and additional copy photographs, with notes, of the prints in the P sequence. 2. Small envelope (annotated with background information about the contents) containing London Auxiliary Fire Service Action Station card of Ewart Gladstone Heath (Station Officer), uniform insignia and three postcards showing a Fire Service competition at the River Lea (probably 1939-1940). Press cutting from The Star newspaper, 16 June 1938, about the Fire Service recruiting campaign in Burdett Road; photograph of (Burdett Road?) station staff; and photograph of the Norwegian ship 'Brena' moored at Canary Wharf in 1937 or 1938. Ewart Gladstone Heath regularly delivered milk to the ship when she was docked, and this photograph was apparently a thank-you from the crew. 3.
