The 'Wings for Victory' campaign was organised by the National Savings Committee with the object of securing the investment of additional funds in National Savings security to assist the war effort. The Bethnal Green Savings Committee was invited to fix a targt for the campaign and it fixed the a figure of £500,000 for the Borough of Bethnal Green. £503, 189 was the figure that was achieved.</dc:description>
