The text beneath the photograph has for the most part worn away and is therefore difficult to decipher, however, the last line appears to read: 'Killed Ypres Nov 1914'. This indicates that Mr Edmunds died at the First Battle of Ypres (October-November 1914) in Belgium during World War One. c. 1914
