  <dc:title>Events and property records book, 1866-1887 </dc:title>
<dc:description>Small, untitled volume, containing a range of accounting records dating from December 1866 - June 1887 concerning income and expenditure for various events and other records about property and stock owned by members of the Chalk family. The date range reflects the fact there are some annotations at the start of the volume dated 1898.

The first records within the volume relate to events in 1866-1867 including tea/dinner events and bazaars. There are records for events entitled 'Teachers Tea' and 'Teachers Dinner and Tea', these consist of lists of names and amounts and descriptions and amounts. The lists of names (some of which include J. J. Chalk and S. W. Chalk) most likely refer to contributors supporting the event and the other lists contain details of costs associated with putting on the event (e.g. food, drinks, equipment, supplies, entertainment etc). Within this part of the volume a summary of receipts and expenditure for a bazaar held in 1867 can also be found, this is proceeded by some short entries about a Ragged School (e.g. bonds and a Ragged School Bazaar Fund).

The records about events are followed by some annual expenses and property related records dating from June 1873 - June 1887. The records include information about the value of stock, homes and land, the share of these attributed to different members of the Chalk family and amounts owing. At the very back of the volume there are some records relating to amounts due, these are dated 1876-1879.

About half of the volume has been used.</dc:description>
