AdminHistory | The Bethnal Green Labour Party was formed in 1947 following a merger of the North East Bethnal Green and the South West Bethnal Green Labour parties that had been created in 1918. The Representation of the People Act (1948) created a single parliamentary constituency in Bethnal Green. However this was not co-terminus with the boundaries of the Borough of Bethnal Green as it included parts of the Borough of Hackney
The Bethnal Green Labour Party ceased to exist in 1971 when the Bethnal Green and Bow constituency was formed and subsequently the Tower Hamlets Labour Party was established. |
