William Cowland was born in c. 1827 and died on 10 December 1886, his sister, Alice Cowland was born in c. 1831, married Charles Mander in 1851 and died on 20 September 1897. Seymour William Chalk was appointed sole executor of the estate of Mr William Cowland in his Last Will and Testament (dated 28 October 1886). This document stipulated that, after sundry bequests, all the remainder and residue of Mr Cowland's estate and effects be given to his sister, Alice Mander, for her sole and separate use. Alice subsequently appointed Seymour William Chalk as the sole executor of her estate in her Last Will and Testament (dated 7 September 1887).
In his Last Will and Testament Mr Cowland's profession is listed as 'Scale Board Manufacturer' and 'Scaleboard Manufacturer' (in London Trade Directories his profession, and that of his successor, Samuel Cowland, is recorded as 'scale board cutter') and his address is: Belvedere Place, Borough Road, Southwark, in the County of Surrey.
In Alice Mander's Last Will and Testament her address is listed as: 14 Basing Place, Kingsland Road, Parish of Shoreditch, in the County of Middlesex, however, her final address (in the Inventory and Valuation of the personal effects of the late Mrs. Alice Mander, dated 28 September 1897), is given as: 20 Arthur Street, Stoke Newington. |
